A general emergency food box may be unsuitable for someone with an allergy. The useful plan starts with food the person already eats safely, clear labelling and the individual's existing clinical advice, especially if meals will be prepared by someone else.

Choose a small familiar menu

Write a realistic no-cook menu using products already suitable for the household. Read current labels whenever buying replacements because ingredients can change. Separate individual requirements clearly so a helper can identify the right food. Avoid relying on a generic survival ration whose ingredients or preparation requirements you have not checked.

  • Keep packaging or accurate ingredient information with stored portions.

Plan for shared kitchens

If staying elsewhere, explain the relevant needs to the responsible adult or provider and ask how food will be stored and served. Do not assume an emergency centre can supply a particular product immediately. A manageable reserve can reduce pressure while support is arranged, but should not delay following an evacuation instruction.

  • Use clearly labelled utensils or containers where your normal plan requires them.

Keep medical arrangements professional

Maintain prescribed treatment and emergency instructions according to the person's care team, including storage and availability when leaving home. Do not change doses or replace the clinical plan with website advice. Tell trusted carers where the current instructions are and check supplies through ordinary prescription arrangements rather than building an excessive stockpile.

  • Update the food plan after any clinical or dietary change.
