A power-cut blanket needs to be reachable, large enough for its intended user and useful alongside ordinary clothing and bedding. Snugpak's Jungle Blanket WGTE and Decathlon's Quechua Fleece Blanket 150 x 130 cm address that need differently. This specification-based comparison was checked on 24 October 2026. It does not assign either blanket a safe room temperature or claim an independent warmth test.

Consider a simple extra lap or bedding layer when its stated dimensions provide enough coverage.

Start with the bedding you already have

Look at the people who would need extra warmth and where they normally sit or sleep. Check clean blankets, duvets and suitable dry layers before buying camping equipment. Keeping existing bedding accessible can be more valuable than adding a compact item nobody can find in the dark. Include any care needs in the household plan.

A blanket adds insulation around a person; it cannot repair heating or guarantee that a cold home remains suitable. If someone needs reliable warmth, ask the relevant care or healthcare professional about their disruption plan. Seek energy, housing or local support early when the home cannot provide a suitable environment.

  • Keep the route to the bedding clear.
  • Choose manageable items that the user can lift and arrange.

Where the Snugpak design may be useful

The current Snugpak product is named Jungle Blanket WGTE. The standard version is listed at 700 g, with Travelsoft polyester insulation and a compression stuff sack. Snugpak describes the outer as windproof and water-repellent. Those features make it worth considering if the same blanket must also pack away for travel or provide an extra layer in a draughty setting.

The extra-large version is a separate option, listed at 900 g. Check the exact selected size and confirm its unfolded dimensions before ordering, especially for a tall adult or someone wanting full coverage. A compact packed shape is a storage benefit, not evidence that it is warmer than another blanket. Water-repellent fabric should not be treated as a waterproof shelter.

  • Match the Standard or Extra Large variant to the actual user.
  • Follow the care and storage instructions supplied with the blanket.

Where the Quechua fleece may be sufficient

Decathlon's current carbon-grey Quechua Fleece Blanket is product 8606450. Its published size is 150 x 130 cm, with a listed weight of 300 g, 3.2-litre packed volume and a carrying strap. The fabric is polyester fleece. It is a straightforward option to assess for a lap layer or additional bedding when a shell and insulated construction are unnecessary.

The dimensions deserve attention: do not assume a relatively small fleece will cover every adult in the position they use it. Compare the stated rectangle with an existing blanket at home. The lower listed weight does not establish equivalent warmth to the Snugpak, and neither manufacturer specification provides a shared independent warmth comparison.

  • Check coverage for the person, rather than the product photograph.
  • Use the exact product number to distinguish similar picnic covers.

Choose the use case and keep heating safety separate

Consider the Jungle Blanket WGTE when packability and its insulated, wind-resistant construction solve an additional need beyond the sofa. Consider the Quechua fleece when a simple, manageable extra layer meets the requirement. Keep your existing duvet or blanket if it already does the job; a new outdoor label is not an emergency necessity.

Keep every textile away from heaters, flames and other heat sources as directed. Never bring a barbecue, camping stove, generator or outdoor-only heater inside a home, garage or tent to supplement a blanket. If an outage affects essential warmth or care, use the agreed support or relocation plan before the situation becomes unsafe.
