A plan is easier to use when its first page answers the questions people are likely to ask under pressure. Keep detailed records elsewhere. The one-page version should tell someone who to contact, where to go and what needs immediate attention.

Use clear headings

Include household names, the home address, agreed contacts and where to find official updates. Add practical support needs with consent. Use plain descriptions such as a device needing electricity rather than unexplained abbreviations that another family member may not understand.

  • Put the print date at the top.
  • Keep account passwords off the shared page.

Make the decisions realistic

Choose a nearby meeting place and an alternative if the first is inaccessible. Both should be safe to reach and suitable for the people involved. Set a check-in approach rather than assuming everyone can immediately call during a network outage. Write down arrangements for children, dependants and pets.

Test the page with another person

Give the sheet to someone in the household and ask them to find the essential information without coaching. If they hesitate, shorten or clarify it. Keep a paper copy in an agreed place and a digital copy available offline if useful. Update it after a move, number change or care arrangement change. The plan is a prompt, not a binding script: official instructions and the conditions around you take priority. Do not travel into danger simply because the printed meeting point says that is where you intended to go.
